About
Our Beliefs
The Church of Genesis was founded in 1986 with humble beginnings. Our first gatherings were held in the living room of one of our members. As the church grew, we moved to the basement of another congregant’s home before eventually renting space at the Bair Foundation in New Wilmington.
From the very beginning, our church has been built upon a simple conviction: to faithfully proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, make disciples, and serve others in His name.
Our founding pastor, Rev. Louis A. LaGatta, helped establish both the spiritual and organizational foundation of the church. Following his pastorate, he founded Caleb International Ministries, a ministry dedicated to “serving those who serve” through leadership development, ministry training, and the advancement of the Gospel among unreached people groups. His emphasis on biblical discipleship, ministry excellence, and equipping believers continues to influence our church today.
Under the leadership of Rev. Ron Eade, who faithfully served as Senior Pastor for more than thirty years, the Church of Genesis experienced significant growth and developed numerous community outreach ministries. During this time, the church also formed strong relationships with Spanish-speaking ministries and expanded its mission efforts, particularly in Guatemala.
Most recently, Rev. Damian Williams led our congregation with a passion for disciple-making and evangelism. His vision of taking the Gospel “from New Castle to the Nations” challenged believers to share Christ within their families, friendships, workplaces, and communities. Today, he continues that work as a missionary, helping to train and equip leaders around the world.
While much has changed since 1986, our mission remains the same. We continue to be a church committed to the authority of Scripture, the transforming power of the Gospel, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the call to make disciples of all nations.
We began by relying on God and one another for direction, encouragement, and provision. Decades later, that dependence remains unchanged. We are still a people seeking to know Christ, grow in His Word, love one another well, and serve our community in His name.
As we look toward the future and prayerfully seek the Lord’s direction for our next Senior Pastor, we remain confident that God is not finished with the work He began. We invite you to join us as we continue building His Kingdom, serving our community, and proclaiming the hope found in Jesus Christ alone.
To God be the glory.
